When one person delays on one episode, it kinda makes everyone else want to delay too.
You think “Well, it’s not like it really even matters -o-” and stuff.
Just some thoughts.

Upscaling = no-no
On a somewhat related note, nice to see some sort of movement on the blog. All of the episodes are out on DVD now right?
But it’s pretty good.. I’ll do one episode uprezzed and the same with original. Is it fine?

I’m finished with the intro of the original now.
Seeing the wonderful File size drop. I think i should be doing some 2-pass encoding from now on. [I didn't do a 2pass encoding on the first one. Because i know that 2pass encoding will be more time consuming than 1 pass
]

O i forgot to change the description of the resolution its
720 x 478 The rest is okay
Not the best settings you used there: no Trellis, no mixed refs, no 8×8dct, no B-Pyramid, no weighted B-Frame prediction, you could use more reference frames and B-Frames, etc.
Doesn’t look good either.
I’m no encoding expert myself, but looks like you did not know what you’re doing.
ahhh…. Btw The thing that you were right about is that I use only few Ref frames.. i study through experimentations. Like i said in earlier posts. I’m just familiar with basic options. I will use 13 as my Ref frames. and try using Auto as D Pred. 2 as trellis and so on.. I’ll experiment. For the sake of completion. [YAAAAAAAA]
Btw I’m finished with EP1. 2 passed and other things. If I will be recruited. my files will be ranging from 30 – 60 Mb [ As of today ] This is v1. I’ve done this before i’ve read kingalekz’s comment so it might not look as elegant as i try to familiarize myself with the encoder.

OK. I’ve been working this for a few minutes. but ithink encoding it to mp4 will get much better result than directly putting it on mkv containers.
Here’s the thought. I will try to encode the intro to mp4. then put them onto mkv. but it will take a few mb’s more than mkv[aprrox. 3-4 mb.]
and. The uprezzed one seems to be the same way as the Original one. it maybe just me but.. who knows right?
sorry for turning this to a forum-like site. but i really want to help in the development and completion of this project.
err… you want to mux one container into another, or did I get that wrong? You know the difference between a codec and a container?
You encode to h.264. Muxing it first to mp4 then to mkv shouldn’t do any difference to the h.264 file itself.
Please for god sake, Do Not Upscale the DVD.
Ok. Thanks for the support. I’ve learned a lot during these past weekend. Up scaling is no good– h.264 will not change even if you change their containers. Instead of Posting vids here I guess I should be using Screen shots because it is more convenient.

I posted screen shots because you can open 2 Browsers copy the 2 links paste it on both browsers then compare.
I think it’s quite good. But if it isn’t good enough. I guess I’ll try to twiddle more settings here

So, have you found an encoder at this point though? What about any TLC’s? I may not be able to help on the former, but I do have a friend that I believe is versed in both Japanese and English well enough to be a TLC if you’re still in need of one.

I’ve tried all lines of communication, IRC, MSN, DATs forum PM, no reply except for *pass*. I was already a regular TLC here, so it’s not like I’m new or anything, I just don’t understand the problem here. :/
