Fan of Endless Eight?

So I’m on vacation and actually have time to do stuff, and so I’m going through backed-up e-mails… found this one, and actually started laughing out loud.

Navarr became a fan of Endless Eight on Facebook and suggested you become a fan too.

I hated the fact that the story was the same each time, but the varied animation in each episode kept me hooked. I especially loved the various styles done for the “Kyon vs. Haruhi leaving the cafe” moments near the ends of the episodes.

I really enjoyed it myself. Seen every episode twice, actually. As a lifelong fan of time-related sci-fi stories, it was fascinating to see someone actually tackle a time loop in such a metafictional way. The artwork and acting only got better over time, and I’m not impatient enough to demand that KyoAni adapt every story this year. I’m pleased that they did it. If nothing else, the ending was one of the greatest moments in Haruhi so far.

I loved Endless8, and it’s endless rendition of Yuki in yukatas and mizugis. Loved the Gundam reference too.

  • Manwards says:

The Evangelion reference in the episode before was very welcome, too. It’s one thing to give a general nod, but when Kyon actually referred to a specific moment of an episode, it really did it for me.

  • Enchantermon says:

Crap…now I’m wishing that I’d seen Evangelion and Gundam so I’ll get the references when I come to them.

although i might’ve liked Endless Eight.. i’m still waitin’ for mah Haruhi-chan \o/ (and Churuya-san)

ya know, studies show that humans, especially children LOVE repetition,
    children especially LOVE repetition,
repetition is especially LOVED by children.

maybe that’s why we all watched to the very end!

    (and a great end indeed)

  • Shion963 says:

There were Evangelion references? I only noticed the Gundam ones lol

  • Manwards says:

Yes, in one of the episodes, when Kyon takes off the head of his frog suit, he remarks, “Now I know how Unit-00 felt when it got hit by that beam”. It almost certainly refers to the sixth episode of the TV series, where Unit-00 takes a beam blast from the Angel Ramiel to shield Shinji and Unit-01.

Do we know when the DVD release of Haruhi’chan will be ou,so we can get subs of the remaining episodes?I’d really like to finish my collection and get beyond 18 too.

  • Rokudaime says:

  • Oosran says:

    So, where’s my Haruhi-chan?;_;
    (and my Nyoro~n)
Oh and btw, yeah Endless Eight was awesome, too bad it’s over >.<

  • PINGAS says:

    IT’S BEEN ALMOST A MONTH

START SUBBING THE HARUHI-CHAN DVDS ALREADY PLZKTHX :D

  • Outis says:

Pingas (and all others who keep saying this), let me just tell you a few things:

    1) Look to the left of your keyboard. There’s a key there saying “caps lock”. Press that to turn it off. Thanks.

    2) This is a free fansub. A free *quality* fansub. One that actually worries if the translations are correct or not before releasing it.

2.a) Quality takes time. If you want the bad, incorrect fansubs, you can just watch it in the original engrish[sic] fansub, or better yet, learn Japanese.

2.b) It’s a free fansub. Shamisen is doing this of the goodness of his hearts, and for his like of the haruhi series, overall. You shouldn’t be rude or demand things. It’s just not cool, mate. I’m sure shamisen is progressing in the series, and will tell us all when he’s done.

Keep up the good work, Shamisen.
