So, it’s time for episode 2 to go through QC

Now, before we do this, I want to note something: this wouldn’t be released. :P For one, I didn’t do the sign typeset (I don’t have TL – I sent PC an e-mail about it) and two, I noticed that there is definitely an audio lag. I’ve sent gavers an e-mail about it, so hopefully we’ll get it fixed.

Therefore, don’t worry too much about how you think some lines should bleed because the audio goes over and blah blah blah. It’ll hopefully be fixed when we get this fixed, kk?

Notes post is here.

QC file can be found here RIGHT CLICK – SAVE TARGET AS PLZ

Like before, please do notes in the following fashion:
00:00 – what you want changed

I won’t change all notes, I’ll evaluate each one separately and decide if I want to do it or not. So yeah, someone else’s change might be better than yours. Live with it.

Oh, and Blah, chapters please?

    00:11 – I think the episode number should be above the Japanese episode number, not at the top of the screen.

    01:16 – “I did hear that, didn’t I?” -> “I did hear that just now, right?”

    01:34 – “But let’s use headphones so as not to disturb others” -> “But let’s use headphones so you don’t disturb others.”

    01:43 – This doesn’t sound like something Yuki would say, “Wanna play with me?” -> “Would you like to play with me?”

    01:50 – “I am going to kill you and see how Suzumiya Haruhi reacts to that!” -> “I am going to kill you to see how Suzumiya Haruhi reacts!” I don’t remember if Asakura uses contractions or not. If so replace “I am” with “I’m”

    02:03 – I don’t believe Yuki uses contractions though “I’m fine.” -> “I am fine.”

    02:08 – “But you’re mistaken if you think that I’m done with you!” -> “But you’re mistaken if you think I’m done with you!”

    02:15 – This depends on if Asakura is speaking in present tense or future tense. If she is saying they will appear right now: “Any moment,…” -> “Any moment now,…” If she is saying they will appear at some point in the future: ->”At any moment, the other members could appear…” Depends on what you want.

    0:07 – Swap the name order
    0:32 – Add an exclamation mark
    0:46 – Use an exclamation mark
    1:19 – Italicize the “did”
    1:26 – Your stylebook says to let Nagato use as few contractions as possible, not sure if you wanna let this one pass or not
    1:34 – Awkward; maybe change “so as not to” to “so you don’t”
    1:58 – Not sure if this is translatable or not, but Nagato says something when she comes in
    2:02 – Ugh, I hate it when people do this. “Alright” isn’t a word; “all right” are.
    2:15 – “Any moment” -> “Sooner or later”
    2:17 – “That is” -> “That’s”

    Hmmm… Didn’t notice an audio lag. Was it during the fight scene with Asakura? I just used a faster computer and it played beautifully.

    Also, in your notes post, “specially” -> “especially”.

    I don’t know if it’s doing this for anyone else, but the video just cuts out of me at 1:49. I’m using VLC media player. And it will not go past this point.

    If Blah is referring to what I believe he is though, then Yuki is saying “wawawa” in reference to WAWAWA・WASUREMONO.

  • Rokudaime says:

    Um, Shami, when will you post the finished version of episode 1? Now that it has been QC’ed, has a new font and ordered chapters and everything.

    • When the XviD is done. You can find it in the IRC channel.

    • It’s people like you that make fansubbers not do anything. :)

      • Rokudaime says:

        Ok, fine. Now would you kindly please answer my question or not, rather than enjoying making me ask again and again? Please? It should be easy to do so, and you’l get me off your back. Will you be posting up the final version of the episode (and future episodes for that matter) on this site or not? If you won’t, then will you only post them on IRC, meaning that I have to get the program and learn how to use it, just to get the episodes, or settle for the unfinished QC versions? That’s what I wanna know.

  • Title: “Don’t listen to other people’s advice” [with the quotes - there are quotes in the original]
    [Star] Helping the student body cultivate the world with help groups (fellowships for those alike) [or whatever the hell SOS DAN stands for officially] – *a.k.a. SOS DAN
    Activities Include:
    -Support groups for solving students’ student life problems
    -Counsultations
    -Active participation in community service activities
    Old Building, Room 3F, Literature room

    so i don’t lose it

    • Blah says:

      So I guess to save you time, SOS Brigade = Save the world by Overloading it with fun Suzumiya Haruhi’s Brigade.

      • PhantomCaller says:

        Oh wow… That’s quite different than what the poster says.

        Though weren’t there two SOS Dan definitions?

        1) The one you(Blah) said, which was the original one.

        2) The one they submitted to the student council, because the student council would not accept the original one.

        The one in this poster would be the second.

        • Blah says:

          Mine’s taken from a.f.k.’s releases. They made it fit with “SOS”, rather than your direct translation which doesn’t make it obvious that it’s the long form of “SOS”.

        • Blah says:

          Oh wait never mind, on further thought, you’re right. My bad.

        • Rokudaime says:

          Hey, PhantomCaller, I don’t think you noticed my last post in one of the older threads, so I just wanted to say here, that I’m sorry about earlier, and I didn’t really mean to offend you, actually, I just thought it was just a really weird line change (in episode 1. The “I’m tired” one.) But it wasn’t even the right line, and the one I talked about is unchanged like you said, so I’m really sorry, I misunderstood. ^^’. I didn’t watch the qc episode, I just looked at that screenshot, and didn’t remember that there was a line after that one, so I just thought it was weird how it was changed, but obviously it wasn’t changed at all. So sorry. And I don’t question your translation skills in general, I find them to be quite satisfying really.

    The name they submitted to the student council was “Spreading cheer to Our Student body Brigade.” This of course this is coming off the DVD english dub.
